What Makes This Program Unique?

The program is an emotion-processing, skills-based approach that gives parents practical tools that they can implement immediately in their family. This program has been developed by Dr. Joanne Dolhanty who developed the application of Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) to Eating Disorders. She is the co-developer of Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and is well known in the field for her clinical work and as a trainer/supervisor to many clinicians here and around the world. The structure of EFST has applications to a variety of settings and populations including individual and group therapy; supporting and training parents and caregivers; enhancing personal growth; teaching emotion focused skills in schools and other professional teams; as well as training supervisors and trainers.

About The Workshop

The program is an emotion-processing, skills-based approach that gives parents practical tools that they can implement immediately in their family. The program is designed to support parents by empowering them as active, primary agents in guiding their loved ones through emotional, behavioral or relational challenges, as well as with struggles in everyday living such as eating disorders, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, physical or educational challenges. The program is an emotion-processing, skills-based approach that gives parents practical tools that they can implement immediately in their family.

Learning Approach

In EFST, parents learn a simple set of tools that give them a NET of skills.  The goals are: 1) to Navigate emotions in the confusing world of their child’s feelings 2) to Enhance motivation and capacity in parents in working with challenges in their child 3) to Transform Relationships between parent and child by restoring positive, productive relationships with their child and their ability to set appropriate boundaries

Experiential Learning

Using multimedia tools, we will cover topics such as motivation, validation, and boundary setting. Through exercises and discussions, participants will learn a simple set of tools that give them a NET of skills with the purpose of restoring positive, productive relationships with the person they are supporting.

EARLY REGISTRATION

Early registration is recommended. This workshop will be comprised of only 4-6 couples (8-12 people maximum)

Cancellations made within 48 hours of purchase will be refunded fully. Any other type of cancellation must be made prior to the registration closing deadline: In such case, the cost of the workshop will be refunded minus a $100 processing/administration fee.
